Mark Freeman’s St Albans: A History first appeared in 2008 and this year, University of Hertfordshire Press is publishing a new, revised and expanded edition. Ranging from the Iron Age to the present day, St Albans: A History by Mark Freeman is the most comprehensive account of the city.
At this event, author Mark Freeman will talk about the process of researching and writing the book, in conversation with Helen Glew. They will discuss the strong tradition of local history research in St Albans and Hertfordshire, and about some of the influences on the new book.
The event is introduced by Jane Housham from University of Hertfordshire Press.
Mark Freeman lives in St Albans, and is Professor of Social History and Education at University College London.
Helen Glew lives in St Albans, and is Senior Lecturer in History at the University of Westminster.
