Did you know that the medieval foundations under Waxhouse Gate are nearly two and half meters thick? Or that the Clock Tower bell was rung at the start of the First Battle of St Albans in 1455?

Before St Albans Museum + Gallery was opened to the public a team of 19 fantastic museum volunteers worked on the Talking Buildings project for 4 months before all their research and fantastic talking buildings were unveiled in the hoardings surrounding the museum-to-be. Their research is now brought together on our website so you can listen to is from the comfort of your own home - or on a smart phone outside each building if you prefer!
