South Asia is a massive geographic area, and includes seven modern countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Pakistan, Maldives and Sri Lanka. The UK has a long and complex history with these countries, and has been enriched by the movement of people, goods and ideas that has occurred over thousands of years.

We are looking for individuals and families with a connection to any of the South Asian countries to get involved in our next community co-curated exhibition - Generations: Stories from South Asian St Albans - which opens at St Albans Museum + Gallery on the 18th July 2025.

You can find out more about the projects that will take place over the coming months at one of these drop-in sessions. Come along and tell us what you would like to see in the exhibition. Do you have objects you could share with us? How do you tell your stories, and what does 'South Asian St Albans' mean to you?

We'd love to see your old family photographs - especially anything that tells a story, or includes local history eg the local heritage sites, old factories or areas of St Albans that have changed over the years. Please feel free to bring photographs with you - we might even ask to include some of them in the exhibition! We will have a scanner ready to copy them if you are willing!
