Come and learn from professional artist, Lyn Bird to develop sketching skills and explore working with limited light and visibility. No prior artistic skill is required, just an enthusiasm to have a go.
Taking inspiration from Henry Moore’s coal mining drawings, which were drawn underground, we will be working in dim lighting, using torches, lanterns and a recreated "mine shaft" complete with an actor portraying a miner to get as close as we can to Henry Moore's drawing experience (without the suffocating heat, cramped conditions and general unpleasantness!). Lyn also happens to be blind, so is an excellent artist to learn from when it comes to creating art when visibility is difficult.
This workshop will give participants a chance to learn or develop drawing and painting skills as they imagine and appreciate the challenges and unique beauty of creating art in low light conditions.
The class will include professional instruction in sketching with pencil and charcoal, as well as a chance to work with water colours.
Aimed at ages 7-15 years (A similar class for 16+ and adults is being run on Saturday 1st April)
