Ex-Offenders from HACRO (Hertfordshire Association for the Care and Rehabilitation of Offenders) have been investigating historical Court Records from St Albans Museum + Gallery and interpreting these cases through art.

This has been funded by the Building Better Opportunities Project. In partnership with Emmaus, the Homeless Charity, based in St Albans, they have used a variety of different media including collage, painting, charcoal,
typography, relief work, photography and graffiti, all through the lens of modern representations.

The artwork links their experiences and stories with the historical ones contained in the Court records, whose defendants were regularly housed in the Cells until the 1960’s.
