In 1969 the St Albans Conservation Areas were created. 50 years on, this exhibition illustrated the past and present of our Conversation Areas including conservation projects of the 60’s and 70’s, current buildings which deserve conserving for the future, tree conservation and a picture show St Albans Yesterday and Today.
Conservation 50 was a project run in connection with the St Albans and Hertfordshire Architectural and Archaeological Society, St Albans Civic Society and Residents Associations.
The exhibition ran alongside a Conservation Conference which was open to the public on 6 July 2019 at Cross Street Baptist Church. There was also a display of work by local Primary school pupils on Sunday 7th July 2019, as seen below.
