Learn how to work into a circle loom in this mindful relaxed workshop.

Weave with Lucy and create a design using wools and ribbons to make your own hoop art. Follow one of Lucy’s floral or star patterns or create your own design incorporating colours and texture to weave your own abstract design. Lucy will have a selection of her circle weaves with her to help inspire you and will guide you through the weaving process while teaching you the techniques you need to create the patterns and textures you wish to include in your piece.

This workshop is suitable for beginner weavers with no experience, as well as those who have some knowledge and wish to further develop skills!

The day will run from 11am-1pm before a short lunch break and restarting at 1:30-2:30pm. This workshop will be at the St Albans Museum + Gallery.

About Lucy Sugden

Lucy is a woven tapestry artist from Letchworth Garden City, with a degree in Constructed Textiles. A member of The British Tapestry Group, The Wynd Gallery and various textiles associations she regularly exhibits locally and nationally, along with delivering talks, workshops, and courses.

Her woven work explores a fascination of light play with a love of wildlife and beneficial flowers found in local habitats and is often inspired by her garden walks around the fields of Letchworth.

It is important to Lucy to maintain a sustainable art practice by recycling and upcycling fibres which has become an integral part of how she works, and often has a direct effect on design and size of a piece, while exploring combining fibres.

Lucy sources British wools and recycled yarns and fabrics for use during her teaching and workshops.
