We need your help in making an important part of a new exhibition at St Albans Museum + Gallery. As part of the preparation for 'Generations: Stories from South Asian St Albans,' this project will focus on making small woven-topped stools, reminiscent of the woven-topped furniture used in many South Asian countries. For lots of people this furniture brings back fond memories.  You will be able to get creative and to share those memories over tea, coffee and snacks.

To take part you must book a place and be able to attend both sessions at St Albans Museum + Gallery:

Saturday 7th June 10.30-1pm

Saturday 21st June 10.30-1pm

Local artist Suman Gujral will be guiding participants in decorating their own wooden stool frame with paints, stamps or decoupage and then weaving the seat, using coloured tapes, strings and fabrics. You can make your stool personal to you and your family story. The stools will then be on display and used in a 'storytelling' corner as part of the temporary exhibition, and can then be taken home when the exhibition closes.

All materials will be provided.
