Living through the Covid Pandemic is the biggest challenge faced by the people of St Albans for over seventy years. Since October 2020 photographer Nic Madge has been recording the way in which we are surviving the Pandemic by making portraits of people as they go about their daily lives.
Each photograph shows an individual with and without their facemask with a quote underneath about how the Pandemic has affected them capturing a snapshot of St Albans under lockdown. Nic Madge plans to keep taking photographs for a full year to the end of September 2021. The full collection of images will then be added to St Albans Museums' collection.
All the portraits are displayed as a short film in the Timeline Gallery of St Albans Museum + Gallery. This is updated regularly as more photographs are taken and all the images are also viewable on Nic Madge's website.
Weather permitting, Nic Madge will be standing outside the St Albans Museum + Gallery in Market Place a couple of days a week. If you are part of a group who are keen to be photographed you can also email nicmadge@ntlworld.com to arrange a mutually convenient time and place.
Nic is very conscious of Covid-safety issues and will ensure that social distancing is maintained at all times as well as providing hand-sanitiser. All photographs will be taken in the open air.
