SUPERIOR : INFERIOR Class and Status in Roman Britain
Social status was important to the Roman residents of Verulamium. As in modern day St Albans, rich and poor people, upper class and working class, residents and visitors all lived side by side in the town. But how did they show and use their social position? Using archaeological objects and other clues, can you decide who is higher – Superior – and who is lower – Inferior – status, in this interactive exhibition?
Guest curated by Andrew Deathe, this display is part of our Revisiting the Romans series of interventions at the Verulamium Museum.
